There is a medical marijuana law here operational since 1998, and since July 2015, the recreational use of weed is completely legal here. CBD in Oregon, the Beaver State

The State of Oregon has been growing industrial hemp since 2010, legalizing it with Senate Bill 676 passed in 2009. There are many farmers that grow industrial hemp here, and the program is governed and licenses are issued by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Also, the trade of industrial hemp and the production of hemp derivates are legal across the state, as is the production of CBD products.

The State of Oregon has allowed the cultivation of industrial hemp across the state in 2009, and commercial production began in 2010. Since then, many farmers have begun growing this crop, and most of it is used for the production of CBD and hemp oil.

The use of CBD products in this state is completely legal as long as the CBD oil or other product contains less than 0.3% THC and is in compliance with the US federal law.

Medical Marijuana

Ever since 1998, the people in Oregon suffering from severe health conditions like cancer, nausea, PTSD, seizures, HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, chronic pain, muscle spasms, and Alzheimer’s disease can use medical marijuana. There are other health conditions that are subject to approval.

The registered patients can grow up to six mature cannabis plants and up to 18 immature seedlings and can possess up to 24 ounces of usable cannabis. Today there are about 28,170 registered patients and the medical marijuana program is run by the Oregon Health Authority.

The people of Oregon voted for the legalization of weed in 2014, and this law called Measure 91 took full effect on July 1st, 2015. Since then, the state has issued 606 dispensary licenses. Today the laws of possession of weed in Oregon state that one can carry up to one ounce of weed in public completely legal, up to two ounces it is punishable with a $650 fine and anything more is punishable with a jail sentence and monetary fine. People at home can keep up to eight ounces and can grow up to four plants.

The State of Oregon taxes the sales of marijuana, and it is expected that the sales of medical marijuana will hit $59,000,000 and the recreational marijuana sales will soar up to amazing $848,000,000 by 2022.
